VALDOSTA — The Poptart Monkeys are known for wild and crazy shows on and off stage. Though a Pennsylvania band, the Poptart Monkeys have been a big attraction at Club LaVela in Panama City Beach, Fla. — especially a big hit there during the spring-break period.
Now, the Poptart Monkeys bring what is referred to as “Comedy Central meets MTV” to Rock ’N Rodeo, Friday night, Jan. 9.
The Poptart Monkeys’ music is pop at full-steam, or rock with a hard wring of pop, and there’s a sense of fun like an updated Monkees for the 21st century.
The band’s latest release, its fifth, “Count to Zero,” seems like the perfect modern-rock soundtrack for a New Year. The album’s title is “based around the idea that for new life to begin, there must first be an end to the old and a beginning to the new,” according to thepoptartmonkeys.com.
The Poptart Monkeys are Tyson Clark, vocals; Chris Kurtz, guitar, vocals; Matt Lytkowski, guitar, vocals; Jason Massey, percussion; Jamah Terry, bass.

The Poptart Monkeys play Friday night, Jan. 9, Rock ’N Rodeo, Bemiss Road.
